Balanced sizes first, then category distribution
Names are shuffled and assigned to teams so the largest and smallest teams differ by at most one person. When you provide categories, members within each category are shuffled and spread across teams as evenly as the counts allow. Balanced sizes come first; this does not guarantee equal skill levels.
Share groups, not a managed roster
After grouping, you can copy the teams or make a result card to share. No account is needed. The page does not offer cloud rooms, attendance records, or long-term roster storage; closing the tab clears the names.

How does Team Grouping keep the teams balanced?
Paji Lots shuffles the member list with CSPRNG and deals members into each group in order, so the largest and smallest groups differ by at most one person.
How many teams can I generate?
You can split a roster into 2 to 10 teams, and the team count can never be larger than the number of members. The roster itself needs at least 2 members before the draw will run.
Can I balance teams by skill level, department, or another label?
Yes. Turn on the optional category mode, enter a category name, then paste one name per line in each category. You can also keep using Name:tag in the regular list, for example Alex:senior. Members in each category are shuffled and dealt across teams. Group sizes differ by at most one person first, then categories are spread as evenly as the counts allow; equal skill levels are not guaranteed. Members with no category are treated as uncategorized.
Is every member equally likely to land in any team?
Without categories, yes. Every draw starts from a fresh seed taken from your browser's secure random source, shuffles the whole roster, and then deals it out one member at a time, so an earlier draw never influences the next one. With categories the draw is still random inside each category, but spreading the categories constrains where members can land.
Do I need an account or an install?
No. The whole draw runs in your browser with no account, no shared room, and nothing kept between visits, so closing the tab clears the roster.
Are the names uploaded anywhere?
No. The list is processed in your browser for the current session only.
Do old /group links still work?
Yes. Existing /group links are redirected to /team-grouping, so bookmarks and shared links keep working.
